Thomas Harding's Resume

Thomas is Publisher/ Co-Editor/ Writer of The Observer, the largest circulation paper in Jefferson County, WV. The paper is distributed to 9,000 homes each month and has generated a reputation for hard-hitting interviews and in-depth long form features. Thomas also regularly appears as a co-host on the daily political talk show, Panhandle Live on WEPM radio.


Thomas co-founded and jointly managed Oxford Channel the first local terrestrial television station in UK (Oxford Channel), which broadcast on channel 6 to 500,000 people. This project was built from around-the-kitchen-table to a multi-million pound business with staff of sixty and a significant weekly audience in under two years (25% of the weekly potential viewers tuned in)
 

Thomas was co-founder and joint managing director for five years of the multi-award winning video magazine Undercurrents. Undercurrents Productions specializes in producing and distributing environmental and social justice videos. undercurrents has received international press attention for its ground-breaking work. It was described as 'The Pathe news of the 90s' by Time Out, "The news you don't see on the news" by Independent and "Gives two thumbs up to the mainstream media" by Guardian. Thomas has trained hundreds of campaigners and non-profits how to make best use of the media in their campaigns.
 

Thomas has run various for-profit  organizations including the environmental property development company, Rattlesnake Run, the real estate brokerage, Greg Didden Associates, the television production company, Tom, Dick and Debbie Productions as well as many others.

 

Thomas Harding wrote the critically acclaimed Video Activist Handbook  for the London publisher Pluto Books, 1997. Second edition published in July 2002 with a forward written by Anita Roddick. The book was translated into Italian in 2003.   
Thomas has written for Independent, Guardian, FT, New Internationalist and numerous publications.

Thomas has made documentaries for Channel4 and BBC and produced/ directed news features for Channel 4 News, WTN, ITN. Thomas has sold his footage to Central, ITV, BBC, CBC, MTV and ABC among others.

Over the course of his career Thomas has been featured in numerous press articles and appeared on many of the leading television and radio programmes around the world including Radio 4, BBC2, MTV, CBC (Canada), TF1, NBC (US), Guardian, Independent, Financial Times, Daily Mail, Sunday Times.
